Workshop with Petite Explosion Youth in El SEGUNDO, CA

I had a great time teaching a workshop and working with the girls of "Petite Explosion" Dance Crew in El Segundo, CA.

These girls were so free and down to learn breakin, and open to my instruction. We also had a little cipher get down, where they all freestyled!

Lead by a bubbly woman named Shawn, they range from age 9 to 15 and really love to groove, dance and push them selves.

By the end of class I had them doing a breakin routine that made them all sweat, but they were all down to learn to ninja freeze, and battle each other!

Thank you Shawn for putting me in touch with these young girls who have passion and heart and dedication for dance. After Three hours of fun, I left feeling satisfied that hopefully one of those girls will stay outta trouble and focus on dance as creative release and expression to empower the true meaning of a female dedicated to HIP HOP dance!

Thank you Caddy One, for some dope fliks! Thank you New Breed Girl for the Tshirts!

"Thunder Soul"- Documentary about the Kashmere Stage Band!!

For those of you who LOVE FUNK MUSIC! I just saw one of the best documentary films ever about a high school band in the 60s and 70s in Texas (Known as the Kashmere Stage Band)...at the Museum of Tolerance.

Here's one popular well known song in the Bboy community:
Super Strut Pt. I (Kenny Dope Remix)

The documentary really was a great example about how having Arts Education in Schools is so important in cultivating youth, and enriching peoples lives.

It showed how one man, one teacher, known as "PROF", was able to cultivate these young highschool students in to creating a professional sounding band. So much Funk, So much Soul!!! Little did I know the history of this band!

I've been breaking 11 years now, and I've heard many of their songs, not knowing they were a high school band!

Thanks to Stones throw Records for helping let this music continue in it's legacy.

Some other of my fave songs, some are re-arrangements
